Madrid

Arrived in Madrid just after 8:00am this morning. I was lucky that I slept most of it on and off. Had a guy really going for it with the snoring so had to put ear phones in and that drowned it out a bit. Was woken as the train was pulling into the station so quickly put my shoes on and sorted my gear still feeling half a sleep.  Kate and I must have looked a sight getting of the train! Headed straight to a cafe with coffee to gather our thoughts and sort out a plan. We headed to the metro line to see if we could find a way in.  After much googling and looking we came up with a plan but when we went to put the plan into place to buy our tickets we couldn't work it out. Lucky for us a nice Spanish man helped us out and we got on the right train.  All was going well until we tried to find our next train. A few rides up and down the escalator later we found a train as another nice Spanish man pointed us to our train. Right in front of us!! We had walked passed it a few times.  We blame the bad singe it wa pointing down!!  After a short ride we popped up not far from our hotel.  The next interesting part was trying to find the reception for our hotel.  We managed yo get in the door but no idea where to head from there. We found the elevator and Kate went in first but it was only really tiny so by the time I tried to squeeze in the door would hardly shut so Kate and I were very snugly sqashed together.  We still ended up climbing more stairs and finally we found reception. She let us check in early so had a quick shower and headed out to explore Madrid! What a lovely city it is had a great look around as we hopped on a tour that you hop on and off as much as you like. Kate was the latest tourist attraction in Madrid as she was the only person in summer clothes and believe me she was certainly attracting a large amount of attention!! Kate asked as I marched of in front if I didn't want to walk with her but no I was in a hurry to get to the Christmas food market!! Yummy!! About 3 we headed back home to recharge the batteries ready for this evening and to also drink the bloody Baileys that we brought that we don't want to carry anymore!
