We headed down a street and come to a square where we caught a tour bus to get some idea of the city. Lisbon has an amazing history, from the massive earthquake in the 1700's which destroyed the town and subsequent fire to the many people through the decades that have had influences over the buildings or tiles. It's rich history shows in the many statues around the city remembering the people who have shaped this city. We got of the bus at Blem and stopped to have lunch in this wonderful part of Lisbon. I had a lovely cod and rice soup and a delicious pastry to finish.
This is where you can keep track of where and what I am up to during the next couple of months while I'm away.

Lisbon, Portugal
This morning we felt so much better so decided to leave our hotel and try for one in the centre of town. We found this really cheap hotel with a good location so we booked it. We were lucky to have the hotel we stayed at the previous night drop of us in town. He had no idea where it was so after a strange conversation trying to give him the address we finally got it acros to him. He was very good and gave us lots of advice about pick pockets and how good they are and also things to do and see. Well by the time we got to the street where he thought we were staying we got our bags out of the car and he took of! We had no idea where we were, if we were on the right street and every person I looked at I thought was pick pocket! Kate left me with all the gear (on guard) and went into a shop to ask where it was. Lucky for us it was just around the corner. It certainly has character but we were allowed to check in early so all good. After getting up some courage it was time to venture out. One step out the door and we have police and people marching, welcome to Lisbon I thought!
The pastries here are amazing!! We got back on the bus later and headed back into town where we come back to our hotel sorted out some more money and went back out for a look around. Kate got talked into having tea in a place so we had tea there then we found some live music and this little resturant where we sat and relaxed for an hour or so. We had another look around and took some night photos and then headed back to the hotel. We did have to stop at a pastry shop on the way home!
